I plan to make a short film about my personal quest: Seeking Simone. This quest began when I bought my first copy of The Second Sex when I was a 20 year old university student. I was so struck reading this book by the courage of Simone’s writing, and how impressive she was in using her mind to challenge the society in which she lived and to advocate for a different way of thinking which was revolutionary at the time. Her book was considered by many to be one of the most important books of the twentieth century, and yet, how many of us have read it? Or know about it? I had so many questions after reading it, and it was very important to me to find out more.

I have made several short films previously. Sea Legs, attached, was the first I made in 2016. It was a short documentary about a tugboat master, commissioned by the Art and Industry Festival in Melbourne. I then produced several short films for the Bastille Day French Festival (BDFF) in Melbourne. In 2021, I produced a short film titled Caudalie for the BDFF (see teaser attached). This festival was founded by the then Honorary Consul General for France, Myriam Boisbouvier, and the film was supported by the Victorian Government. I was invited to join the Advisory Board of the festival as a creative by Myriam Boisbouvier in 2016 and worked with the festival for six years producing French cultural events. In 2022 I produced a very short film about the Picasso exhibition at the NGV (see attached).

This short film will be about 15 to 20 minutes in length.
